Convent and Church of Los Remedios

Construction

It was built in 1575. The church was in charge of the Order of St. Augustine since 1625, which promoted the construction and maintenance of the temple. In the earthquakes of 1773 it suffered considerable irreparable damage and was left in ruins.

Architecture

Of Renaissance style. The facade stylistically presents some decorative elements, attached columns and Ionic order. Another characteristic of the façade is its simplicity in terms of decoration with basically vegetal elements.

Curious facts

It is considered the oldest church in La Antigua Guatemala.

It is not authorized for tourist visits.

The facade does not have abundant details like the rest of the temples of the city.
