San Cristobal El Alto

Church: It has a temple, a Catholic church next to the ruins of the colonial church, of which there is only a wall, which testifies to the existence of this village since ancient times. (Emilsa & Castillo, n.d.)

Curious facts: The titular festival is celebrated on July 30 in honor of St. Christopher, patron saint of motorists. (Emilsa & Castillo, n.d.)

Since the second half of the 20th century, more and more localities have joined in celebrating this day, forming brotherhoods and associations in honor of the patron saint of motorists, cab drivers, motorcycle cab drivers, truck drivers and drivers in general. (La Prensa de Guatemala)
